At first glance, this the Van Lear Historical Society might seem like just another creepy old building that naturally attracts rumors and wild imaginations. However, what sets it apart is that almost everyone who enters, especially after dark, encounters something undeniably otherworldly. There are numerous written and eyewitness reports of eerie apparitions, shadowy figures, unexplained noises, and even direct communication with entities from beyond the veil. These experiences have been documented on video, audio, and in photographs.
Orb Trails are said to indicate the presence of spirits. This picture is of a young girl, a line has been drawn around her to better see her.
One particularly chilling account involves a two-year-old girl who went missing in the museum, only to be found in the library, seemingly conversing with an invisible presence. Other reports include sensations of children sitting on laps and the sound of footsteps echoing through empty halls.
